Healthy, Sunny and happy to learn
Hi! My name is Kitty Miao.
I am a 13-year-old eighth grader at Tsinghua University High School. I am a typical Aries girl full of energy, romance, humor and passion. I have been a big fan of painting and reading since I was a little girl. With my great imagination, they have developed into my current hobbies of animation and writing. Growing up, I love animals and have raised many small animals with a strong sense of empathy with them. I tend to build an intimacy with nature by observing the flow of seasons and watching the flowers blossom and fade. My favorite quote is -- “Most people like to take shortcuts, but sometimes a detour turns out to be the shortest way.”
I have a wide range of interests and a strong desire to explore. I especially like to watch the documentary Blue Planet, fascinated by the beautiful images and fantastic creatures in them, thus developing a strong interest in biology. As a result, I joined the Reptile Club at school and I am now the club president at the junior high department of the school, organizing and enjoying the activities of the club. I’m also a member of the Equestrian Club and have persisted in equestrian training for 5 years. I played pipa (Chinese lute) for 3 years and I was fortunate to join the Golden Sail Folk Orchestra of Tsinghua University Primary School. This experience brought me to many large-scale performances and international competitions with the team and we have won golden medals with our performances. In the future, I will keep these hobbies and share the joy of them with others, because I want more people to know how wonderful the world is! I am willing to keep challenging and improving myself to become a more confident person.
In addition, I enjoy participating in community service, helping the disadvantaged, rescuing animals, and protecting our one and only planet. I think public service and charity are a virtue. When you help others, what you will have in return will be a happy and peaceful heart.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you and I can become like-minded friends. Let’s grow together and make progress together!

The beautiful Tsinghua University is my home
My home is inside the campus of Tsinghua University.
Tsinghua University was established by the Qing Dynasty government in 1911 as a preparatory school for students to study in the USA. The name of Tsinghua University comes from its location, Tsinghua Garden, which means "the essence of the Qing Dynasty". Tsinghua Garden was once a royal garden of the Qing Dynasty, covering an area of 1,000 acres. Many of the royal garden landscapes are preserved to this day: Shuimu Tsinghua, Linyixie, Yi chunyuan, and I-Shape Hall, etc. One of the attractions near the I-Shape Hall has become a well-known attraction because the Moonlight in the Lotus Pond, a prose written by Professor Zhu Ziqing from Tsinghua University, has been selected into the Chinese language textbook for middle schools.
I grew up in the historical and cultural richness of Tsinghua University. As the top ranked university in China, Tsinghua University was founded on the educational philosophy of Self-Discipline and Social Commitment. It is the alma mater of numerous famous scholars and masters, as well as many political greats. They are like bright stars scattered in the long and undulating history of Tsinghua University. Among them, there are Wang Guowei, Liang Qichao and Chen Yinke in Chinese Studies; Deng Jiaxian, Qian Sanqiang, Chen-Ning Yang, Tsung-Dao (T.D.) Lee and 600 academicians in natural sciences; and two presidents and one premier in politics. Tsinghua University still retains some Baroque style buildings. Tsinghua University Library, which is over 100 years old, is amazingly wonderful like the Yale University Library.
Tsinghua students admire action, just as the words inscribed on the sundial beside Tsinghua School -- “Actions speak louder than words.” It is under the influence of this university that I have developed an international perspective and a desire to explore the rest of the world.
